Interview a Social Worker

When did you decide you wanted to be a social worker?

Switched career paths mid life, maybe 15 years ago, different things in my life changed what I wanted to do, what back to school as an adult because you need a masters in counciling our social work to do the profession.

Which of the following degrees do you have?

I have a LCPC license which means Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. It is equal to a LCSW – Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Do you have a social work license?

Yes _________Yes__


What is the best part about being a social worker?

Love working with people, and seeing their lives improve the way they want too. Like that people have the courage to make changes. Im in private practice and get to determine my own schedule.

What is the most difficult part about being a social worker?

– When somebody doesn’t get better, and cant make the changes because of internall or outside forces and are stuck in a certain situation.

What advice would you give someone who was thinking about being a social worker?

– I think it is a fantastic profession, takes a lot of years of experience to really understand how to let people help themselves with our assistance. It is not their job to tell other people what to do but let them make their decisions with their own life.
